Palm Sunday - April 9, 8am and 10:30am

On this Sunday, we commemorate both  Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday) and enter in to the sacred mysteries of our Lord’s Passion (The Sunday of the Passion).  


Maundy Thursday - April 13, 6:00pm

Seder Dinner

 The Seder is the ritual Passover meal that has been shared by Jews for centuries to remember the Exodus from Egypt. Jesus ate a Passover meal with his disciples. This year on Maundy Thursday Abingdon will once again host a traditional Seder supper with roast lamb, potatoes, green beans, and matzoh as well as the traditional Seder plate and readings. Mark your calendars for April 13 at 6 pm. RSVP to seder@abingdonchurch or call the office.  Cooks are needed for the vegetables.   Everything you would need--the ingredients and simple recipes--will be supplied. Set up and clean up crews would also be appreciated. Please let the office know if you are able to help. Mazel tov!

 Good Friday - April 14,noon to 3pm.

Good Friday liturgy and Stations of the Cross

April 14, noon to 3pm

The Good Friday liturgy takes place at noon at Abingdon.  The Rev. Grant   Ambrose, rector of Ware preaches.   

Stations of the Cross will be set up on  the church grounds so that individuals may walk the way of Christ on this day.  A final prayer takes place at 3 pm in the church.

 The Great Vigil of Easter April 15, 7:00pm

On the Yorktown waterfront at the Watermen’s Museum

 This service is the a festive celebration of our Lord’s resurrection. At this service the Paschal candle is lighted, the story of God’s redemption is remembered, and Baptism and Eucharist are celebrated.

This service is a joint service of Abingdon, Grace in Yorktown, St. Paul's Episcopal and Reformation Lutheran in Newport News, and  Kingston Parish, Mathews.

The Rt. Rev. Herman Hollerith, Bishop of Southern Virginia, celebrant.

Bring a chair, blanket, flashlight and bells.
