Who We Are
At Abingdon Church, we are all kinds of people—young and old, retired and working, born‑and‑raised here and new to the county. Some of us have been part of the Episcopal Church our whole lives. Many of us started somewhere else and found a home here. Everyone belongs.
We believe in a God who is loving, freeing, and full of life—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As part of the Episcopal Church, we come from a long tradition connected to the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church. Today, we’re part of one of the largest Christian families in the world.
We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection bring hope and healing to everyone.
Abingdon has a long history of welcoming people. We work to show God’s love to every single person. In our church, women and men serve together as bishops, priests, deacons, and lay leaders. We believe God gives gifts to all people, and everyone has something valuable to offer.
Most of all, we believe this: God loves you. No exceptions.
You don’t have to be perfect, know everything, or come from any special background. You are welcome here—and we’re glad you’re part of the story God is still telling in Gloucester.
